Conference Overview

Speech-language pathology is the primary discipline to provide services for individuals with swallowing disorders (dysphagia). However, recent data suggest that speech-language pathologists (SLPs) practicing dysphagia management vary widely in competency levels for diagnosing oropharyngeal dysphagia impairments and developing physiology-based treatment plans. This series of courses will provide practicing SLPs with evidence-based information related to principles of neurology, the pulmonary system, and timing parameters as they pertain to dysphagia management. The overall goals of this course are to facilitate knowledge and critical thinking skills for SLPs with a wide range of clinical experience (beginners to veterans) related to neurology, the pulmonary system, and swallow timing.
