About This Webinar

With the increased need for school-based mental health services, there is an influx of clinical professionals working in school settings.  But the clinical world does not always look the same in the school setting.  Through this interactive session, participants will identify potential challenges, learn ways to ethically navigate the school system to support youth clientele, and discuss strategies for working in the school system.

Attending this webinar awards 2 Synchronous Clock Hours.

Objectives

  • Discuss the educational professionals compared to clinical professionals and the scope of work within each
  • Become familiar with school-based language that will help navigate the educational system
  • Recognize the differences between educational laws and clinical laws and which to follow
  • Analyze school structures for collaboration and teaming with other school personnel, including the benefits and limitations of the school systems.

Faculty Introduction

Holly Todd   Holly Todd has worked in education for over 20 years.  She has worked in Wasatch School District, Jordan School District, at the Utah State Board of Education, and currently works for the Northeastern Utah Educational Services Agency.  Holly has been a classroom teacher, intervention specialist, school counselor, crisis response counselor, and school-based mental health specialist.  Holly has presented at the local, state, and national level on topics of social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practices, personal wellness, and youth mental health.  She recently started working with Rocky Mountain University of Health Professionals as a faculty member in the Master of Science in School Counseling Program.
